Balloon Festival Event Details

The 45th Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, a long-standing Rocky Mountain tradition, fills the sky with eclectic balloons, as 30 pilots launch their hot air balloons into the air, daily at 7:00am in Snowmass Town Park. The weekend features three days of festive balloons, pilot games, food trucks and vendors, kid’s activities, and more.

On Friday, September 11, the Balloon Night Glow provides an up-close-and-personal experience to these mega balloons from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Guests can chat with the balloon pilots, enjoy food & drinks from vendors from 6:00-9:00pm, enjoy music from Berkel Beats and watch as the 30+ balloons light up the sky in Snowmass Town Park.

Special activities and events round out the weekend, including Cidermass and Septemberfest. All Snowmass Balloon Festival events are free and open to all ages. All daytime events take place at Snowmass Town Park, with free parking in the Town Park Station lot.

Volunteers Needed for Snowmass Balloon Festival, more info to come!

Why Volunteer?

You’ll have the opportunity to get to know the pilots and interact with the hot air balloon. If you volunteer to crew for a pilot the entire weekend, all three days, you will get to fly with your pilot on Sunday, weather permitting. If your pilot is one of the pilots doing the glow show, dinner will be provided before the glow on Fanny Hill. And, each volunteer will receive a Snowmass Balloon Festival t-shirt.

Volunteer Duties

Volunteers will be asked to crew for a balloon pilot for one or up to three days plus a night glow, arriving to the launch field by 6:30 a.m. each morning for a couple of hours and 5:00 p.m. for the night glow. Your volunteer job will be working with your pilot to help set up the balloon on the launch field. You will get to chase the balloon and help pack it up when the flight is over. Flights can last a couple of hours. You are invited to tailgate with your pilot after the flight. Your pilot will provide the tailgate food and drinks.
